I agree. I never understood why Canada has a military. Whatever military they have, no matter how much they pour into it, will be useless against the only country (countries?) that could invade it. There are much better uses for the money.

If Canada needs a JOBS program for it's young people, it could fund it's own Peace Corps, or public service programs for young people to work in Canada, improving the lives and infrastructure in Canada. Maybe building steambaths for the homeless.

When there were floods in Quebec, it was our military that saved hundreds of lives. In every emergency situation our military responds and does so regularly. At the end of the Second world war Canada had a huge military. If Canada is to take it's place helping in the world, it has been and will be our military who deliver the services needed. Just because you don't approve of what your military does, doesn't mean that Canada's military isn't of great importance and significance to Canadians. What Canada needs is fewer overpaid politicians.
