I don't think that's the issue. Sure it does, but it doesn't do so any more than if he'd killed himself before the trial started or before the crime had even been uncovered.

Are we going to prohibit all suicide on the off chance that the person committed a crime that would have been uncovered had he lived? There are people who think it great when cops shoot to kill because it saves the state the cost of the trial. How can you reconcile those conflicting objectives.
