Voting for the candidate is the ideal, but perhaps you are not aware of how polarized American politics is, at least on the national level.

I read, just today, that 82% of Republicans approve of the job President Bush is doing, while only 12% of Democrats do.

That's quite a divide.

It is hard to watch television, we get a lot of US TV up here, or read the messages on SI, and not suspect that there is a lot of impotent rage out there someplace. Some how people on the extreme left on SI seem to make some of the extremist Muslims seem almost calm.

CobaltBlue,

You mentioned that some or most Republicans weren't real conservatives. What would be a real conservative's view of Iraq?

It's only been a few days, but have you identified any real conservates yet?

TIA

I really don't know which polls you're following, but they sound like some right-wingnut echo chamber polls.

Use this site, It's got ALL the latest figures from the largest and most reputable polling organizations, and they don't support your figures AT ALL:

pollingreport.com

These figures are for the congressional elections:

Americans think this President and the Repugnican party suck, unless they're koolaide-drinking, true-believing Repugnicans. Everyone ELSE has already decided!
