Rightly or wrongly, I get the impresssion that the Americans would not give up and leave the Middle East because so much is at stake. They may concede one round or two. But they will stick around until they get what they want.

This may be the case with Bush. But other Presidents in the past and I am sure in the future (if they are not neoconized) will make every attempt to get the Israelis and the Palestenians together. Notice that Bush has never tried to do so. No help whatsoever in propping up Abu Mazen who is trying to stand up those who are to the left of him such as Hamas.

This guy Bush is pathetic on foreign policy.
