When I was 11 or 12 years old, my parents gave me a fiberglass bow and steel-tipped arrows for my birthday. My next door neighbor and best friend, Tom, also got a set. After two weeks we got bored with shooting at targets and decided to shoot at each other. We were having a good time until I stuck an arrow in his stomach (with no lasting harm, I might add). I took one look at Tom's face and decided that it was time to turn tail and run like hell. He caught me in the heel. I walked with a limp for about a week. Sometimes I wonder how I survived childhood. I was pretty good about not letting my parents know what I was up to (like tossing an M-80 down a pipe and screwing a tennis ball into the pipe).
