The principal objection over on the Soup thread seems to be that Bush and Rumsfeld can define who is an unlawful enemy combatant, and that therefore none of us are safe. What possible use would it be to lock people up under the terms of that law unless they were a material danger to the United States? I just don't see the point. We should not be letting our liberties to be chipped away. I just don't see how this does that, unless one has something to hide, in which case go after them.
