No one says it per se but I think the constant assertions amount to a defacto bias in that direction. In fact, I woulnd't be commenting on these things if I didn't perceive a bias in that direction. Why did people feel it necessary to refute Colson's opinion in Westi's piece in the first place?

Namely Colson's assertion that there is no natural explanation and thus the existence of music (or of human appreciation of music) is evidence for God.

I view God as a matter of faith, and as something that will likely remain that way. Proof is unlikely to happen (unless God does exist and decides to provide the proof), even serious evidence is very unlikely (again without divine intervention).

I would have agreed with that statement about faith once. I would still say it in regard to what people believe about God as opposed to the simple existence of a creator.

While I would agree with a statement that we can't prove or disprove God, I think we've learned enough about the world and life to get an idea for what is more likely and less likely. Now, more likely isn't the same standard as proof, but its more than just blind faith also. I perceive us now being in a situation where there may be uncertainty and a lack of hard PROOF but we have an idea of which way to bet.

BTW I ideally wouldn't pick human characteristics like music as being the preferred area to argue that opinion if it were up to me - I'd aim more at the origin of the universe and the origin of life.
