Hi Trev. <The big question now is ... When will they move from GSM to 3G? >

China seems bent on their own TD-SCDMA ideology, like Japan had their own PHS ideology, which was a technological dead-end internationally. China seems to like the Albanian/North Korean 'self-reliance' foolishness, perhaps with the idea of stealing QCOM's technology and thereby saving themselves 2% royalties [big deal and how pathetic and greedy]. They'll still have to pay 7% export royalties and they won't sell any TD-SCDMA at all overseas, which will reduce their competitiveness because of reduced economies of scale and reduced interoperability/roaming.

I suppose they'll move to the more modern world, albeit their own hybrid effort, with dragons on the bonnet of the CDMA-powered auto to make it look "Chinese", in the next year or two.

China could take over the world's cyberphone markets if they went gung ho on CDMA2000 locally, which would turbocharge their international efforts. They could defeat W-CDMA which is no good for them = with very high royalties payable.
