The Drawer

"Search it!" I cried.

Ninjas knocked down the door. The room, pristine. Only a volume of poetry seemed out of place.

And the body, of course.

The book wore a scrawl: "The drawer."

I looked.

There, in the bottom.

"I found it!" I said. "I found the gun!"

The Gun

The gun is what it is.

I bagged it. The ID matched the body.

Others bagged that.

Nothing out of place but a dresser drawer.

I opened it. There, his last work, lying on the bottom.

“The Gun, and Other Verse.”
