Neeka,

Next time you crave chocolate chip cookies try this:

1 cup shortening
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
1 1/3 cups granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup oatmeal
3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups (12oz) chocolate chips
2 cups macadamia nuts

Mix together shortening, butter, both sugars and eggs
until creamy. Add vanilla and lemon juice. Blend
together cinnamon, baking soda, salt, oatmeal and
flour. Slowly combine wet and dry mixtures and blend
well. Add chocolate chips and macadamia nuts by hand.
On lightly greased cookie sheets, drop scant 1/4 cup
of dough 3" apart. Bake at 350f for 16 to 18 minutes.
Makes 3 dozen large cookies or 5 dozen smaller ones.

Everybody who has ever tried one has asked me for the recipe. It's a real keeper.
