My family came for Cornwall a hundred years ago. other parts came from well all over. Jewish Canadians think of themselves as Canadians, but a charge of war crimes against Israel is not going to play well with them. Just like if Ignatieff had charged the Welsh Fussiliers with war crimes you might wonder why, or better yet why he thought that was a subject for him to discuss. The Liberals have promoted as hard as they can for years that people not become Canadians, but maintain their original culture. It makes it easier to buy votes. They have not however promoted "English" culture or for that matter worked on a Canadian culture except as a mish mash of other people's cultures. Britain is having the same problem for the same silly reason.
