I agree with you but I still believe in Keynesian economics. IMHO the best way to measure the deficit is on percentage of GDP, but the goal should be 0% or less. Deficit spending in weak economic times does benefit society. Restraining the budget and using surpluses to reduce debt or create government capital savings is a public good.

Governments are no different than people. The same metrics used by bankers should be applied to governments
