During the time I worked with Dick Locher (Dick Tracy illustrator) he had some fun and inside stories about the strip. He told how they would sit and "invent" the premise for the next adventure. It had to be plausible yet entertaining for all ages. In later years, I thought the plausibility left the building. But, my local papers don't run it anymore and I haven't seen it in well over 10 or 12 years. Locher has to be over 75 years old, himself. I suppose he's developing someone to take over for him. He still does several editorial cartoons for the Trib and I see one of them occasionally in Time magazine.
