But his party is called the Liberals, and they have had the name longer than the people you call Liberals. Our Conservatives are something like yours, they don't like Gay marriage and they have a lot of Bible Thumpers in the camp, But Canada is fighting in Afghanistan, and it was the Liberals who put us there. So our equivalent of Bill Clinton arranged for our troops to fight in Afghanistan. Do you see that as an action Clinton would have taken? I don't. So you asking me to list the things about our liberals that are not classically liberal is like cleaning out the aegean stables. They have some Liberal Policies, but usually that is only at elections and they use them as bribes to win elections. They never mean to implement them. Our liberals had huge surpluses, but didn't lower taxes. They paid some on the debt and then spent the money. They fought like madmen to stop a 1% drop in the federal sales tax, that the Conservatives proposed..... But they won an election promising to get rid of the very same tax and never did. I am not confused, but what our liberals claim as their policy, is not their policy if they get elected. In Ontario, our Liberal Premier made all kinds of promises not to raise taxes and all kinds of stuff. He won the election, and broke every single promise he made, not only that but now he is making more promises for the next election. In Canada Liberals support lots of taxes and some personal freedom. Conservatives support lower taxes, smaller governments, and less freedom. Both sides support huge pensions and salaries for politicians. and they get their pension from the day they lose the election.
