Not no. HELL NO!

Do we really want Pelosi as Speaker?

I'm familiar enough with sampling statistics to know that one standard deviation from the mean is only two thirds of the whole story. The real answer could be anywhere within. It's hard enough to get the real answer with objective measurements on things that do not move around.

For subjective issues like politics, polls might show trends but in my view they are practically useless, except as you say, to manipulate the answer.

And that is a perversion.
