Do you mean to imply that this supports the claim of fictional? or are you just stating something that you know I have not disputed? I don't think that favoring one side over the other amounts to evidence that the claims of one side are fictional.

Is it possible you intended "irrelevant" when you first used the word "fictional"?? I can see where certain attitudes and power differentials could lead (if only unconsciously) to the consideration (in a certain mindset) of "irrelevant.

Certainly, Canada's claim is the default reality. Her ownership of the resource rights is not disputed. Her right to control access to transportation has been questioned but remains unresolved. In any event, Canada's sovereignty claims are not fictional even if they may indeed turn out to be irrelevant.
