I agree with everything stated in that link. However, I also recognize that public debt is at times necessary. If for example, the Federal Government were to borrow $100 billion to build a hydrogen infrastructure that would eliminate our dependence of foreign oil... that expenditure would have long term economic and environmental benefits that certainly outweigh the costs. It's also the only way to fast track the shift from oil - the private market economy would take decades to effect such a change. Just like with the birth of the internet, sometimes the government needs to jump start something.
