The Russians fought in Afghanistan for how long? They put all their might to beating Afghanistan and lost. We are not winning. We might win someplace else, but unless we change some of our methods we cannot win here. I still think one of the keys is to legalise and control drugs. By reducing the profitability of the drug trade you reduce the access of terrorists to the cash flow of the drug trade. The US needs to learn from Reagan. I hate to think of him as the smartest military strategist, but Money will end terror before terror will end terror. I continue to believe that the end of this war starts in Kurdish Iraq, It has to be made modern and flourishing, and freedom introduced to the Kurds. Then with a better and improved Kurdish State in Iraq, and a long term commitment to provide that state with all the good things a proposal that there will in the future be three states in Iraq. Two poor ones and the Kurdish state, that is peaceful and prospering, offer to aid the others as soon as peace is restored. Same with Afghanistan. I still think that the Iraqi government should be given a date for the American withdrawal. As with Afghanistan, a simple you need to get the government running by November 2007 cause we are out of here on that day. No aid no help we are just gone, Get what you need now. And then every spare dime needs to go into replacing the oil that is imported into the US from anywhere. Imagine that a bunch of people whose main living is herding goats can hold the US hostage with oil. That has to stop.
