So a 5 year old agreement which is about to expire should automatically be renewed with the same terms? You don't think Nokia knew, when they signed, that the original agreement would expire?

I was making a fairly narrow point against Nokia's argument about how much the cellphone industry has evolved since the early 90's agreement. The certainly did imagine the multimedia handsets of today in '01, and yet they signed the agreement anyway.

Certainly Nokia has every right to attempt to renegotiate the license. I question the risks that they are taking, but we'll just have to see how it plays out.

Out of curiosity, what do you think Nokia's is attempting to get out of these renegotiations?
