This problem with the Dems was pointed out to me on another thread regarding the Clinton Health care plan, where, despite controlling the House and the Senate, Clinton was unable to give us universal health care. I think it's one of the reasons the Dems lost control in 1994. The Clinton Plan wasn't good enough for some of the Dems, who probably thought they had at least two and probably six years to "fix" it, and would have another go at it.

The Dems aren't an ideologically-driven political machine. I think this is one reason I prefer them to the Repugnicans.
