While he realizes that Canadian mixed economy is firmly entrenched in the national psyche, he nevertheless supports ideas that are traditionally conservative such as aggressive intervention, missile defense, etc.

His pandering to Quebec does not bother me anymore. ALL Canadian politicians must pander to Quebec or let them go. I think I would prefer to see Quebec as her own country and stop all this French services in a country which (outside Quebec, New Brunswick, and a small section of Winnipeg, and some tiny rural villages throughout) is an english speaking country. So the french debate doesn't interest me anymore, as I don't care much who wins. Let them go. No malice and no hard feelings. I'm sure there are a lot of resources they could buy from us such as oil, minerals, and milking machines.
