Well, Geoff...Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld DID go into this war without considering the ramifications.

It's pretty well documented now that there was NO plan for what would happen after the Iraqi Army was defeated. They didn't even bother to think about contingency plans.

Frontline did a great story about how everything was screwed up in the FIRST YEAR, from not having enough troops to secure the country and provide stability, to having Bremer just decide on his own to disband the Iraqi military and kick all the baathists out of their jobs.

Tommy Franks in June of 2003 was telling his military people to be ready to get all but 30,000 troops out by Sept. 2003.

The 3 guys I mentioned above wanted to show how brilliant they were and do a quick, neat, war on the cheap. Now, 3 years later, the U.S. is still paying for that "neat" war with 30,000 killed and wounded and $300 Billion in expenses. Both those numbers are growing everyday and things are looking worse everyday.

I don't even read that koz guy's stuff. I don't have to, all I have to do is turn on the news or read ANY newspaper.
