You are helping to convince the public that all of the "contributions" they made over the years are not really contributions but are taxes that they will never get back.

"Contributions" doesn't imply "will get back". "Taxes" doesn't require that people don't get the money back in some way.

Contributions are usually voluntary. When the government requires contributions its normal and reasonable to call such contributions taxes. And in fact these "contributions" are called taxes by the government, but even if the government didn't use that label they would in fact be taxes.

This massive tax was never authorized by anybody at all.

Congress voted for it. The president signed it.
