One smart thing that has been overlooked is the repatriation act Bush enacted. One of the few smart things he did. That brought a lot of funds back into the US for cap-ex spending. Didn't collect much tax on it but it did give the economy a good shot in the arm.

And what exactly is he doing for an encore?
How many acres of the farm can you sell before the farm is gone?

Governments job is not to collect the last dollar on
incremental income, but to support economic growth.
Growth cures many problems.
