In many interviews Rahul had likened the new company to an F1 team with new technologies being introduced and as they matured on high performance machines they would filter down into mainstream models. When asked whether the F1 analogy was an accurate one, Phil Mckinney said: "Absolutely... ...the customer will pay a premium for innovation."

Reminds me of how GM uses the Corvette to test out new ideas years and years before they filter down to their "regular cars."

One of the people I help with investing let me drive his $80K, Z06 Corvette recently and I'll say some GM buyers are very willing to pay a premium.... and boy is that fun to drive! Dollar-for-dollar, it is probably the best "value" on the planet for high performance sports cars (disclaimer, I own a 94 'vette)
