"Let me put it this way. I can start my own "non-profit organization" and come up with a score card that grades senators on race-related issues."

Sure that can be done. Do you know that it was done in this case? When you look at the issues they claim are important to vets, it doesn't seem to be. The issues are straight-forward. As are the votes.

"Same thing with any organization that so obviously gives high grades only to Democrats when it comes to supporting our troops. How many of the troops themselves believe it?"

Again, why is it relevant if the troops believe it? They do know about the issues with getting body armor early on. Did they necessarily know how the votes went that forced them to buy their own armor? The vets who went into the VA system are aware of the way services are rationed or delayed, but do they know who voted to cut the funds for VA? And so on.

I find it very telling that you paint the group as partisan just on the basis of the report card without any apparent attempt at figuring out whether they are or not. Have you been following the votes on any of these issues? It happens to be a fact that the Republican party line is to vote to pay for the ongoing war and drain as much money as possible from anything that doesn't directly promote it. You don't have to be partisan to recognize this, just conscious.

There is more to supporting our troops than waving flags and holding rallies.

You get my point? I might be biased, but I don't have to tell anyone, especially not those in charge of enforcing campaign finance laws.

You might have a point if it didn't sound a bit desperate.
