Pro, what is this new fetish you have for Obama? You sound almost scared about a literate guy with only six years of experience in government (four in state, two as senator). Why, he sounds just like a certain Governor from Texas back in 2000. You know, six years of experience...SOUNDED good, as long as he was scripted. Maybe that is the problem. He is too much like the pastor in chief....well, hang on...if you don't get Obama in 08, you will get him in 2012. Bet you can't wait. P.s. George Allen is DOA as a presidential candidate. You will have to look to Romney. Frankly, he is pretty smart guy...you could do a lot worse. In 2004 you did. p.p.s...did you get the talking points memo? .we don't use "stay the course" any more.

Fox and his choice to make a political ad for Claire McCaskill, who is running for US Senate in Missouri. On The Big Story today 10/24/06, after teasing the segment by showing video of Fox with the Cavutoesque banner "Faking it?" host John Gibson and reporter Doug Kennedy actually looked pained to report the story. Michael J. Fox has had Parkinson's disease for 16 years and dearly wants to see stem cell research go forward - fast - and find a cure. He founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research which has raised over $100 million for research for a cure, and now he is supporting candidates throughout the US who will advocate in Washington DC for federal funding for expanded research. He made this commercial for Claire McCaskill of Missouri, who is seeking to unseat religious conservative Jim Talent: Enter Limbaugh, who said on his widely heard radio program that Fox allowed his illness to be exploited, with an overly dramatic performance. "I'd never seen him this way, and I stated when I saw it, I was commenting to you about it, that he's either off his medication or acting. He is an actor, after all." (His emphasis.) Yeah, trolls, that's your hero. What a guy. Naturally, McCaskill is aghast at such a characterization and said "As painful as it is for us to watch, and as hard as it is for us to realize the difficulty of his disease, it is unconscionable that Rush Limbaugh or anyone else would accuse him of 'putting on' for political purposes." The Talent campaign said Limbaugh's comment was "inappropriate," yet took the opportunity to try to paint him (Talent) as a supporter of stem cell research - well, adult stem cell research. He opposes embryonic stem cell research, though, and his representative accused the McCaskill campaign of misrepresenting his position in the commercial. McCaskill was shown rebutting that charge, saying that Fox says in the commercial that she is for expanding research (to include embryonic lines) and the sitting Senator opposes it. Gibson asked Kennedy if it was "fair" to question Fox about "using his illness" to garner support for specific political candidates and not just a cause? Kennedy asserts that it may be fair but it's not politically astute, and Talent should back off. Essentially, if they felt they could get away with it they would attack Michael J. Fox the way they attack any other outspoken progressive or liberal celebrity, but since he is so popular and his condition raises such sympathy, they will reign in the attacks. They'll do the right thing for the wrong reasons. Here's a good interview with Michael J. Fox so you can see for yourself that he is not "acting", he is really in late stages of the disease and determined to do what he can to advance research for a cure: This Limbaugh slur is as disgusting as Coulter's charge that the Jersey girls were "enjoying their husbands' deaths."
