The hate-talk jocks are desperately trying to get the rightwing base off their butts and out to vote next month. If they can whip up enough hatred toward the media or the evul libruls, that takes the sting off the general disgust with Bush.

Remember that Bush's ratings with self-labeled conservatives have dropped a lot. This is red meat for the masses, to energize them again.

I doubt it will have much impact. The crucial House districts up for grabs are mostly in CT, NY, OH etc.

OTOH, the hate-talk jocks will get good ratings and renewed syndication contracts, which is all they really care about at the end of the day anyway.

I was in FL over the weekend and never turned on the radio. Waste of time, as you noted.

I think the right wing talk shows are in danger of suffering from La Rouche syndrome. When you get too angry, and too rabid, and too obsessed, you start to look like a nut :-) I can't think of any group of folks that deserve to be nutterized more. The center, which will probably decide this election, can only be turned off by such programming. I still think the Republicans are the best campaign tool the Democrats have, and I send them my heartfelt thanks. Who knew they were secretly so anxious to have the Democrats win?

I spent hours in the car this past weekend and tiring of hearing music, I went over to screech radio just for giggles.

I somehow listened to Rush and Hannity for several hours. How anyone can take the likes of them seriously is beyond me.

Their entire schtick is based on setting up strawmen and then knocking them down.

I did not hear a single issue framed honestly.

(I'm sure I would have the same criticisms of Left Wing Radio, if there had been any! Lots and lots of Right, no Left radio at all in SC and GA.)
