And why do you assume we need to find an alternative to oil? You say it as if its a fact or something. The real price of oil is still historically low...and it wouldn't be low if we were running out anytime soon. I'll side with historical evidence. Rather than knee jerk fear mongering. You do know that most of the agri progress that has "proven" the Malthusian prediction wrong is based on oil by-products, no? So if we find a good alternative (and I don't know of any) then perhaps we won't starve.
