Hi MQ:
It's 3:50 am here and I can't sleep so I'll argue the point:}

America is somewhat insular, but it's fair comment that the size and scope of the USA means Americans are not so likely to travel to alien lands as others.

Well actually, you are making my point, so I can't really argue. I was responding to the posters stating that Americans are as knowledgeable as Europeans about other countries. As you point out they don't travel to alien lands much (unless you count Canada as alien) so they are really ignorant of life outside of the USA and what opinions they have of other countries and cultures comes from the very limited and slanted media. Most Americans know that in some Arab cultures they cut off heads and womens genitalia but ask them to name a few of these countries or even better find them on a map and they go blank.
I wonder how many could have told you where Iraq or Iran or Afghanistan was before the "war on terror". Come to think of it even now most Americans couldn't draw a map of the region or name the surrounding countries.

If America is going to play world cop they need to educate themselves better on the other countries and cultures. Three of the announcers on CNBC TV mispronounced "Qatar" even when corrected. And it drives most Brits crazy when they say tennis at WimbleTon, instead of WimbleDon.

Your arguments are passe! MQ you should use the same line of argumentation for socio-political--economic facts that you use for QCOM.

Forward looking. Disconnected from the past. Beyond the everyday, ordinary people views...

Aussie doesn't matter. Not disrespect for Aussies, but in the whole scheme of things, Aussie is of no consequence.
