I doubt if the commercials are covering, in fact if anything they might be shorting even more. They often don't care about the part of the move that's hurts them, but more about the end game, or when the fat lady sings. That suggests to me that the drop could be very deep and fast.

Somebody, and it almost feels rogue trader like, is doing an electonic jam, at certain times of the day. The ticks all go jam green instantly. Then there is a lot of sneaky gaming going on in the futures markets overnight. I would guess that 80% of this rally from July has been overnight futures related, with the rest occuring during a thirty minute period around 2:30-3:00 EST when the big stock buy backs enter the market. The rest of the time they just pin it.

SP and DOW are now more overbought than at the top in 2000.
But these things don't matter when the elections are just
a few weeks away. "They" overdid it, did not allow any
corrections -g-
