The saddest part of this is the small companies that may be destroyed by Wall Street, before they have a chance to mature.

If the U.S. Economy loses promising innovative companies because of manipulation of naked shorts, or other yet undiscovered malicious actions, then the benefit of their work may be lost, not only to the U.S. economy, but to the world.

Should this volatility spread through the markets, investors will not participate, capital will dry up, and new businesses will not be funded.

Thus the entrenched companies would control all business, and innovation would languish or even die, and the result would be widespread lower living standards
