The Saudi royals are not overly religious either, but they suck up to them to remain in power. >> I don't doubt that Bush leans to the authoritarian side, but I think he likes being the Security Big Brother more than the notion of a God-controlled society. The thing about power hungry leaders is that they don't care what they have to do to get there. They use whatever resources they have available, right or wrong, to get where they want. Not that I am saying Bush is Hitler, but to make a point, Hitler was not very religious either, but that did not prevent him from making aliances with the Church so long as it suited him.
