I think that is right until it isn't. Seems to be hard to forecast the turning point using weekly data. In retrospect the weekly stoch looks so obvious and self evident but the forecasts I tried to generate with it were worse than buy and hold. MACDs are another tool that looks good in retrospect but from my limited efforts to model and forecast it pretty useless for forecasting. But if it works for you in the way that you use it then that is all that matters!
