To: ChinuSFO who wrote (79927 ) 10/26/2006 9:48:23 PM From: American Spirit Respond to of 81568 Kerry's mistake was this. He expected Bushies to go dirty, but he didn't expect Bush to go extra-extra-dishonest-dirty-dirty. In other words, like the pre-war intel Kerry didn't 100% distrust Bush, and he should have. He 25% believed Bush might be OK and that made a bit of a sucker out of him. So Kerry it a bit like all the other centrists. He didn't want to be seen as paranoid so he took a little sip of the Bush Koolaid. Just a tiny sip, but that was too much. In retrospect, Kerry should have prepped us all by warning us this dirty Bush smear campaign was going to happen. But even then, you know, as Tommy Franks (a Bush supporter) said, what happened in combat 35 years ago, nobody can prove it. So it's like a woman crying "rape!". If you can't prove it then the smear can hang around there like a bad smell even if it's a total - just as Kerry was in the midst of defining himself as a courage, honest and expert potential commander in chief. So for Rove and DElay, this was genius, though thoroughly evil. They managed to create doubt that a bona fide war hero wasn't actually a traitor. Just as they did to McCain in 2000. Look at what the GOP is doing now. Going very dirty and dishonest because they're behind and desperate. But unlike 2004 when 50% of the country still believed in Bush, I don't think it's going to work this time. Now only 25% believe in Bush, and those are the only retards who are going to fall for these negative GOP ads. And they were voting GOP already anyway. So in 2008 if Kerry is the best candidate running, get behind him, because I will guarantee you one thing, he will never ever let Bushies get away with that crap again, and the smearvets nonsense will never work again. So Kerry is immune, the hard way.
