Things have recovered since 1997 ... When you said "we", certainly the folks in Asia ... Sorry, I don't really feel the echo from Thailand collapse in US. As for Soros, you know he is a trader. He was once correct, and also wrong other times. The fact is US has backup systems, so not to worry about the center of earthquake in downtown New York. Political blowback might happen, but it is a necessary process to advance to the next stage. And again, enough physical gold in a bank can be troublesome ... How many people can really come and fetch all that physical gold from their banks, at once ? You can't ... without a fight in a chaotic world. Fight with the bank then ...

By 2002 South East Asia was strong enough to withstand SARS. Besides that took a Tsunami two years ago.

Echo of Asian Meltdown? Only in Indonesia! Now we have even a newcomer: Vietnam is doing very well.

Perhaps Soros meant, center will suffer, periphery is spared the next collapse.
