One thing that could happen is that a brief spell of intensely cold weather --given the construction of so many large houses in recent years, and given the lack of attention to conservation, such as turning down thermostats-- could result in a very large draw of NG storage. In areas where heat pumps are common, gas-generated electricity could also add to the consumption. To talk about this is to speculate on weather, which is not a reliable way to make money. But a "normal" blast of subzero arctic air down over Chicago and the Northeast might put an end to the NG surplus.
