Oh, I knew you were not defending him or his books, I just think that anyone that degrades women the way his books do, does not need to be a Senator, IMO. I hear that Lynn Cheney wrote one about two lesbian homosexuals, was that book about her daughter?

ManyMoose,

I just finished reading Jim Webb's most recent novel, "Lost Soldiers," and I have posted some comments on the PFP thread.

It was a good book and I would not hesitate to recommend it to you. I did not find anything particularly objectionable in it. I did not come across anything that I would consider to be degrading to women in the book. Anyway, fiction is just that, fiction. It is not unusual for authors to flesh out their characters with attributes and attitudes that are not socially acceptable. As for his earlier writings (I read and was stunned by "Fields of Fire" almost thirty years ago) and public comments, we need to remember that people evolve and change as they grow older. If that wasn't the case, George Allen should be consigned to the political dump.
