LOL! Agree.

On Monday evening I called two local Honda dealers, told them I was going to buy through CarsDirect but would get it from them instead if they would match the price. Both said no.

So, already after the delivery was arranged, he tried to back out of the deal with the CarsDirect. Clearly, sellers are not the only ones who can be unethical.... ;)

Fwiw, a couple of weeks ago I bought a 2007 Huyndai Azera limited with bells and whistles... The CarsDirect price (for a 2006) would be about $1K more than what I paid the dealer. Guess their pricing is not always the best.

Actually it's pretty slimy.

They want you to come in and test drive. It would remove the sting of it if you gave them your right address and phone. You are under no obligation to buy from them. Just tell them when they call that you have bought.

There are waaay too many dealers out there because the Dealers have got state laws passed making it almost impossible for the Car companies to get rid of them. Toyota outsells everybody now with 1/3 the dealers that Ford and GM have.

BTW, the "Dealers Invoice" price that the writer uses as his base is a phony. They get billed for that figure, but pick up a lot of rebates and incentives on top of it. That's why he was able to get the Honda for "only $800 over invoice." But it's still the best way to go. And this kind of dealing will get more and more prevalent.

The hangup is getting rid of your trade. Check with the service to see if they will take it.

Honda dealers always think their cars are worth gold but you would have little problem buying a car for 800 over the invoice from any dealer I know. Hell go to your local chevy dealer, tell him you want a Tahoe and will give him 800 over invoice and you could be out of there driving your Tahoe in under a half hour.
