Nowadays the tractors have A/C, stereo radio/CD, GPS and who knows what else. They can moderate the fertilizer dose according to satellite maps that show where the deficiencies are. It is truly amazing.

My picker was of a pre-A/C vintage. A large umbrella over the driver's seat provided relief from the sun.

Back then a combine sold for $5,000. I saw an ad for a new Lexicon, made by Cat. With both the corn and bean heads that puppy is close to $500k. No, that's not a typo, real price.
