You're correct- I checked and he made the statements both in one day at separate times on the 24th. When the station was inundated with calls after the first comments, his own staff did some fast research, and he later in the program made the conditional apology and talked about the book.

But we are arguing two different things. You are talking about the issues and asking the questions that SHOULD be asked-- and SHOULD have been focused on by Rush. Instead he took personal shots at Fox, a sympathetic figure, and became embroiled in a distracting nasty side issue. His physical acting out of the symptoms(and I find his saying he is a natural mimic really disingenuous) came across as mocking.

As for drawing a line, my own is very bright and I can do no more than monitor myself and condemn it on either side when I see it. Just because Rush was criticized for his own drug addiction has nothing to do with the current discussion. Also, I think a lot of that criticism had to do with perceived hypocrisy in his public drug stance and his personal use rather than the addition itself.
