This thing happened, the collapse of the Soviet Union. We were supposed to get this "Peace Dividend", because we didn't HAVE to spend so much on our military! Yet, here we are, with our stated enemies as the "Axis of Evil", who, all put together barely spend a 20th of what we spend on defense. We spend more than any other country on earth, because the military-industrial-government complex MAKES us, and drives us with fear, but not because we NEED to. Chris, you have to understand......the defense industries were hurting......no war means no business. CEOs of defense industries = important Republicans in the RNC. You do the math!
