You've lost me. I have no idea what you're trying to say here. I used the phrase in response to its use in someone else's post.

My point was that while conservatives use that phrase to indicate that liberals have no solid principles, it appears that conservatives do consider the situation when applying ethical standards.

Yes, I'd describe myself as a liberal.
