Media Release
Oct. 25, 2006
Villagers invaded four oil pumping stations in the southern delta region of Nigeria on Oct. 25 over a dispute with Western oil companies regarding community benefits and contracts. Chevron's Robertkiri station was pumping 15,000 barrels per day before the incident; the other stations involved are Royal Dutch Shell's Euklama 1 and 2 and Belema. It is unclear how much oil production will be cut as a result of the rioting.
