Didn't the EU noise get started right after Qualcomm took over Flarion? And, wasn't the Korean challenge also initiated around that time? I always thought that was TI's motivation.

It is a bit peculiar that recent noise in this area (from both sides) links the EU angle more with the BRCM and Nokia desire for lower royalty rates.

Qualcomm has been deliberately(?) quiet on their 802.20 plans. It is hard to see the EU competition angle jumping to the top of any heap (or be resolved) until WiMAX issues hit the fan.

Maybe it will be a few long, cold winters ...
