Re: "There's credible evidence for environmental adaptation, but not for full blown evolution...."

NOW who is 'splitting hairs', making a distinction with no meaning?

If 'change' is to the DNA, then the very nature of the organism is altered.

If the change does not kill the organism, and is inherited (i.e., alterations to the DNA of sperm or egg cells), then that is evolution in action.

If the change confers some degree of survival benefit upon the progeny, then that is evolutionary selection... the basis for the Theory of Evolution.

If sexual selection is involved as a preferential 'sorting mechanism' affecting WHICH genes are passed along in offspring... then that is the second great insight of Darwin... that sexual selection is a driving force for natural evolution.

Re: "that's why it's still called darwin's theory..."

Actually... no.

In science a 'theory' is a hypothesis that has accumulated a critical mass of supporting evidence and logical reasoning, so as to elevate it *beyond* the classification of mere hypothesis (i.e., an as yet un-proven theory).

And the Theory of Evolution, Darwinian Evolution, Theory of Sexual Selection, have accumulated AS MUCH, if not MORE, evidence in support of them as *any other theories* in science --- including the Theory of Gravity, or any other theory you'd care to point to.

(Not that there is ANY 'absolute truth' in science... in science EVERYTHING is subject to being revised/changed/altered as new and improved evidence becomes available.)
