TJ, they will also introduce carbon taxes, talked about since the good old days in the early 1980s in my heyday.

This greenhouse business seems so newsy now, but it was a big deal over 20 years ago in my neck of the woods. In 20 years, there hasn't been any warming to speak of and perhaps it was cooling.

It is certainly damn cold here for the beginning of summer.

But it will be Guy Fawkes night in a few days and hopefully somebody will blow up Helengrad and maybe light a big bonfire in the vicinity of parliament.

They are planning on various "interventions" to make New Zealand "sustainable". We will counteract China's and India's CO2 output ... hahahahahahaha...

The Greenhouse Effect industry is a highly successful scam. China isn't falling for it, although quite a bit of China is not a long way above sea level.

Global Warming has the patina of science but the trappings of superstitious ideology, complete with heresy trials and soon burnings at the stake, [environmentally sound ones of course].

Usually, "alternative" people are dead set against scientists, but in this instance they are foaming at the mouth supporters of the cult "scientific" leaders and Al Gore is wanting to be High Priest. I'm not sure that climatologists are actually scientists any more than witch doctors are doctors.

Global warming seems to be made up of sporadic anecdotes and a lot of hand waving. Maybe I'll take a look around Google and see if there is anything better than I've found so far. Door-knocking Mormons seem to have as a good a grasp of reality and are not much less receptive to alternative ideas to the dogma.

So far, the scoreboard is that humans have held off the next ice-age. But not very well as despite boosting C02 levels by double, [if we can claim all of that, which my boe calculations said we couldn't], we haven't managed to raise the temperature at all [maybe 0.5deg if we cheat a bit]. Imagine how cold it would be if we hadn't put all that CO2 and other stuff into the air. We'd already have snow cover over much of the northern hemisphere in winter and permafrost 2000 km south of normal levels.

If NZ was any colder, we'd already be in the next glaciation. Thank Go- for global warming [and USA SUV drivers].

You must be thinking about tomorrow will be the doomsday. So you want the economy to go down. Why don't you join Osama ? Btw, China central bank will allow Yuan to fix within a narrow range with the dollar, along with other currencies. It doesn't seem China central bank will allow US dollar to fall further. The trillion dollar China central bank has will definitely move market, including saving the US budget deficits. More people can feel more rich with this liquidity boom. Also, US cities are not too crowded when compared with Chinese cities, like HK. So US still has a lot more room to grow. You say demographic doom ? what is it ? Clash of civilizations ... so what ? it has been here since primal time. We don't see another Hitler like Saddam in power, who ransacked banks over all the places. Plus there're lot of businesses still profitable, for example energy drink & health fitness related. Oil equipment services are doing well too.
