Enormous amounts of energy could be saved by telecommuting.

Take my wife's situation where she telecommutes with Chicago everyday.

Clothing costs are close to nothing compared to where they were two years ago. No need for dry cleaning suits, shirts and pants anymore. The car stays in the garage and lunch is almost always at home.

When you add up all the requirements for staying in the corporate rat race, the energy costs are very high.

IMO, the only reason more companies are not promoting telecommunicating is the culture of face time and that boils down to poor management.
