(1) Bush is not on official vacation, so he is just AWOL

Presidents don't really have official vacation time. They get "vacation" when they want to get vacation, but they always have communication equipment around, and usually are working anyway. Its really impossible to break up a presidents schedule to "on the clock" and "not on the clock".

(2) Your amount of paid vacation is limited. Bush (and all the other presidents for that matter) don't seem to think any limitations should be placed on their paid personal time.

See above, and also while its limited, I could take a paid month off and campaign for people if I wanted to.
