"And yes, liberals (including myself) do point out that conservatives use situational ethics with regard to wire tapping, detention of prisoners, suspension of due process,"

Hey...just so long as you don't "accuse" them of abusing situational ethics--LOL!

"I will say that it's kind of silly to say that "liberals do this" or "conservatives do that". I'm guilty of overgeneralization when I do that."

....

"What I'm accusing them of is making poor choices in applying those situational ethics-- (such as the generalization quoted above in the selfsame post you saw fit to accuse yourself of overgeneralization at certain times."

As long as it is not a REAL accusal or a REAL generalization! LOL! Wouldn't want to have you placed in the position of actually defending an accusation or a generalization!

Oh! You were talking about the philosophical place of situational ethics from an overall academic perspective! What a misunderstanding we might have had!

So when I sniff around at the smell from the center and smell endless rants against the situational ethics, I will be aware that liberals NEVER (as in DO NOT) "accuse" conservatives of situational ethics. The anger and hostility is actually directed at particular choices (not that they are "accusing" them of choices, you understand. After all, there is a philosophical necessity to acknowledge choices if we are to consider questions of free will and if we are to presume accountability as flowing from responsibility). It would be impossible to ethically "accuse" anyone of anything without acknowledging certain axiomatic premises.

Anyhow, thank you for being so transparent and so very patient.

"I can't speak for all liberals"

Perhaps it would be unfair for me to further chastise you for the following....now that I know you don't really mean it to be as it appears to be: a Generalization and an Absolute.

"Liberals do not use "situational ethics" as an accusation against Conservatives"
